'Doomsdays' in Saugerties

Passing along:

"Doomsdays," a feature film by Eddie Mullins starring Justin Rice and Leo Fitzpatrick, needs 15 to 20 extras on Saturday. Filmmakers are looking for people in their 20s, but say they will take people in their 30s.

Filming will take place at a private home in Elka Park, which is just up Platte Clove Road in West Saugerties (10 miles from Woodstock)

Six very long movies in four minutes

If you like movies, but don't have much time to watch them, the folks at the University of York Filmmaking Society have an answer for you.

They've recently created a one-minute, one-take version of the two-hour, 22-minute movie "Forrest Gump"

(You can watch this faster than you can read an article about KINGSTON POINT BEACH BEING CLOSED!)



Most impressive, in my view, is "Kill Bill" - parts I and II - also in one take and in one minute. The original versions were 107 minutes and 137 minutes. That's four hours and four minutes condensed into one minute.

(That's less time needed to read a article about KINGSTON POINT BEACH REMAINING OPEN!)



One of the filmmakers, Will Tribble, said in his blog that they are planning to do one more. They're considering "Watchmen" (2 hours, 41 minutes), the "Back to the Future" trilogy (5 hours, 41 minutes), and "Star Wars" (all six are 13 hours, 12 minutes).

My hopes are in "Star Wars."

A mega-trilogy that comes to mind - at 9-hours, 4 minutes (short versions) - is "Lord of the Rings." With apologies to Tolkien fans, the films were re-imagined by the creative animators at How It Should Have Ended. Here's the whole thing, this time in two minutes.

New Indiana Jones trailer

"Indiana Jones and the trip to the Nursing Home" (or something like that) is coming to theaters May 22, 19 years after "The Last Crusade," which, I'm told, was not the last.  "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" also comes 24 years after "Temple of Doom" and 27 years after "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

I saw the new trailer for "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" this weekend and I turned into the boy I was when I first saw those films.
Note Karen Allen is back into the franchise and Shia LeBeouf, 5 years younger than "Ark," is one of the new stars in the film.



Oh, yeah, and part of the adventure takes place in my native Peru. So I can't wait until Hollywood completely distorts the history of my home country for fun's sake.

It is not.

The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. It was originally going to open in February, but the opening was moved to a more proper time...

... around Christmas.

But what's really horrific about this "torture porn" movie -- rated "R" for Radistic Riolence and Rorture, Rincluding Rerror and Raphic Rescriptions -- is the fact that it has its own MySpace page.

(Attention ladies: "The Poughkeepsie Tapes" is a single male, 33, from Los Angeles.)

So pay "him" a visit and remind the gullible visitors that this thing was not based on a true story.

Or you can sell them a bridge.

And, hey, Poughkeepsie! Get a DVD player, would you?

Hudson Valley rocks Utah

Big time.

The Sundance Film Festival ended Sunday, and local filmmakers and actors were honored.

You wouldn't know that from the Sundance site, but the Freeman and the Woodstock Film Festival have the skinny.

And yes, Sundance also is on MySpace and on YouTube.
