Refreshing

Carrie Wykoff of the Rosendale Theater Collective reports, via Facebook:

We did it! Out of 362 projects across the United States competing for a $50,000 Pepsi Refresh Grant, the Rosendale Theatre Collective has finished in the number one spot. The Collective wants to thank profusely all of the supporters who made the effort to vote throughout April. An estimated 3,000 votes each day were needed to secure a top ten spot.

The support the Rosendale Theatre Collective has received in the past six months through donations, votes, volunteers etc. has been awe-inspiring. We've asked for your help and you've answered with a resounding yes! With much optimism and gratitude, we approach the achievement of our goal of officially purchasing the theater.

We hope your support will continue. We have a couple of other fundraising events you can enjoy in May: an online auction and a Middle Eastern Feast and Party, and more (go to www.rosendaletheatre.org for the details). Any donation, big or small, will be gratefully appreciated and will allow us to buy the theater, take the reins in June, and keep our promise to continue to expand this vibrant cultural center. When you walk through the doors of the Rosendale Theatre, know that you made a difference. We all thank you for your help and support.

And Sue Lichtenberg of the Hudson Valley Youth Ensembles reports, also via Facebook:

It's a beautiful mornin'....... We ended up in the top 10 at # 7! What a ride! There have been soooo many people that have helped with this project. Let me say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

Next step: verification process. The finalists will be receiving a packet via email and we will have to complete all the paperwork within 2 weeks. After Pepsi has verified everything, then they will make it official that we are grant winners. That happens towards the end of the month.

We could not have done this without your support! THANK YOU again!

Rosendale Theatre Collective leading Pepsi challenge

The Rosendale Theatre Collective is currently leading the Pepsi challenge. If the group wins, it will get $50,000.

Voting ends today.

The Collective was leading earlier in the month. But then the New York Times wrote about it, and it moved to second place.

Just sayin'

The Hudson Valley Youth Wind Ensembles is No. 7, by the way, and will most likely move to next month's voting.

Good luck to all.
